DIY | Advent Calendar Day 6: Polka Dot Scallop Box

What rhymes with six? TWIX! Twix is actually my favorite candy bar as well so I had to resist the temptation to sneak one for myself :P Got this a mini pack of 6 around Halloween for 99c! I designed a box with a scalloped-edge cover but since I used this same technique to decorate it, the scalloped edge didn't really show up that well :(

DIY Origami Folding Box

(Difficulty: Easy)

Supplies

(1) Download the templates here: TOP | BOTTOM
(2) Scissors
(3) X-acto knife + mat (not shown)
(4) Clothespin
(5) Metallic ribbon or elastic
(6) Pencil with eraser topper
(7) Acrylic paint
(8) Double tape (not shown)
(9) Scrap cardboard / old cereal boxes

Steps

1. Print out the template and trace onto your scrap cardboard. Cut along the solid lines and score along the dotted lines (folding lines). The gray areas will be where your double tape should stick. Assemble the top and bottom of the scallop box.

2. Using the end of the eraser and acrylic paint, stamp dots onto the cover.

3. Place your gift inside and tie a metallic ribbon or elastic bow.

4. Write a special message on a clothespin and clip over the bow.

Easy peasy! Have fun thinking up your own riddles/messages to put on the clothespin for your recipient to guess its contents!
