DIY | Message In A Bottle Necklace

I did this project a couple months ago with my class of kidlings and I had just as much fun as they did, picking out things to fill these tiny bottles with. There's just something about mini objects that has such an appeal. The best thing about this DIY is the customization; your bottle won't be exactly the same as someone else's :)

DIY Message In A Bottle Necklace

(Difficulty: Easy)

Supplies

(1) Tiny glass bottles with cork stopper
(2) Screw eyes (I didn't have any, so I used a headpin)
(3) Necklace chain
(4) Jewelry pliers
(5) Things to fill it with: rocks, beads, scrap chain, shells, tiny charms, paper, etc.

Steps

1. Fill your bottle with your desired fill-ins. I decided to fill mine with rocks, pearls, and a tiny message scroll.

2. For the message take a small scrap of paper, write a secret message in it if you wish, roll and secure it with a jump ring.

3. If you've got a screw eye, go ahead and screw it into the top of the cork. I didn't, so I used a pin to poke through the cork and inserted a headpin.

4. Create a loop and attach it to your necklace chain.

I added a ribbon to the necklace as a finishing touch. Here are some other ideas for filling your bottle, including a beach themed bottle! Have fun~

** Don't wanna DIY? Faster to buy? I'll be selling any extras I made, along with many other items, in my shop Two Teaspoons coming soon. Stay tuned!
