DIY | Advent Calendar Day 23: Elastic Box

For day 23, I got Debbie a set of jewelry pliers perfect for jewelry making. While these didn't originally fit into the ~$1-a-day budget, I had a $5 off coupon from Michaels so the price ended up being around there anyway. Today's box features a long flap secured with an elastic; this would be lovely for holding chocolates!

DIY Pyramid Box

(Difficulty: Easy)

Supplies

(1) Download the template here!
(2) Scrap cardboard / old cereal boxes
(3) Scissors
(4) Double tape
(5) Scrap ribbon
(6) Scrap elastic
(7) Faux gemstones (optional)

Steps

1. Print out the template and trace onto your scrap cardboard. Cut along the solid lines and score along the dotted lines (folding lines). The gray areas will be where your double tape should stick. I added some pieces of regular tape for reinforcement. Assemble box.

2. Place a long piece of double tape along the length of your top flap. Cut a piece of ribbon slightly longer than the flap and attach, taping down the ends on the underside of the flap.

3. I used some sticker paper and a faux gemstone to make the numbers. Place your gift inside.

4. Cut a piece of elastic long enough to go around the length of the box. Tie together the ends into a bow and slip over the ribbon.

So simple yet looks so fancy! I bet a men's tie would also look great in this!
