DIY | Leather Cord Organizer

I'm lucky to be close enough to home to commute back on weekends for a good meal, laundry, and the creature comforts of being home. (#firstworld) Problem is, I gotta lug all my phone, tablet, laptop chargers...in addition to my earphones, external hard drive, portable battery pack, flash drives, etc. Something's bound to be forgotten so I desperately needed something to keep them all together...rather then throwing everything in my bag and spending hours detangling them all later.

Steps

1. Cut out an 8 x 16 inch piece of leather and a 8 x 20 inch piece of felt.

2. Line up one edge of the leather and felt. Glue together, allowing one side of the felt to drape over since it is longer.

3. Punch a hole in the center of the lined-up edge, about an inch from the edge.

4. Use your Velcro as a template for cutting out one 30 to 36 inch long strap from the leather. Line up one edge and remove the backing from the Velcro; line up and stick on the "eye" part Velcro to the back of the leather strap.

5. Fold up the excess felt and glue down to form a pocket.

6. Take your "hook" part of the Velcro and punch a hole about one inch from an edge.

7. Remove backing and position at the center of your felt. Cut off any excess Velcro.

8. Attach your button stud and screw on to secure, with the button facing out (the leather side).

9. Punch desired number holes about 1-inch apart through your leather strap.

To use, place your cords and secure the, via magic Velcro action! Roll it up and wrap the excess strap around the roll to secure.

I also ended up rounding the corners for a more polished look :)
